Hello! Welcome to the start of The Mortal Journey, a blog dedicated to answering life’s big spiritual questions (and a few of life’s physical and mental ones as well). There’s a lot of material I hope that I get the time to show you all, and a lot of it, if not all of it, stems from one, simple place. The journey it’s led me on has been confronting, uplifting, and sometimes far more simple than it seems.

So, what is this one, simple thing about me that’s led to all this?

I love to ask questions. So many questions. Why? How? What does it mean? How does that apply to my life? Many of the questions I kept asking my family didn’t seem to have answers to. So I took my questions to the temple and the Lord. In doing so this led me to the question that set me on the path to this blog. What would you have me do, Lord?

At the time I asked this question I was completely overwhelmed with my life. Nothing seemed to be going right no matter how hard I tried. My many to do lists and attempts at schedules and creating order in a chaotic life all seemed to fail.

In surrender, I asked the Lord what He wanted me to do. What would He have my to-do list look like? One of the first things was to start a blog. 

Which played into a key passion of mine. 

I love to write, I always have. Starting a blog was more than a bit intimidating. It took a while of the Lord patiently helping me build my confidence to do this. So, here I am. I understand better what He wants me to do, especially with this blog as a platform. 

President Nelson has spoken extensively on the gathering of Israel. Specifically in his Oct. 2018 talk to the sisters, he called us to, “pray to understand your spiritual gifts – to cultivate, use, and expand them, even more than you ever have.” In using these gifts we use our voices. 

My writing, this blog, is my voice. It is my effort in being obedient to the Lord. It is my prayer and desire that it aids in gathering Israel and building the kingdom of God. We each are the kingdom of God. Building the kingdom is helping, healing, touching and changing each individual child of God. Gathering Israel is gathering His children. It is the process by which we invite all our brothers and sisters to return home to loving Heavenly Parents and a loving elder brother and Savior Jesus Christ. 

This is what President Nelson so urgently desires and what we as women and sisters are asked to use our gifts to do. Writing is my gift. Asking questions and seeking truth are also gifts. This blog is the path and vehicle that the Lord has asked me to use to help, serve, and lift my brothers and sisters.

I love each of you. I know that your Heavenly Parents and your Savior Jesus Christ love you. No matter what mountain you are asked to climb or what dark valley you are asked to walk in, I know that you do not climb or walk alone. I invite you to reach out to me, share your stories and your questions. In my effort to answer or help with understanding, please know that it is done with love and that I always seek to use the scriptures, conference talks, prayer, and revelation as the sources for the answers.
